Straide Community Futures Open Day took place on Sunday June 24th last. The outcome of the household surveys and interviews with the community stakeholders was unveiled. A very large group of people attended and each had an opportunity to vote for their top priorities from the overall findings. These final set of priorities will be addressed in due course.

A Community Bonfire was held on Bonfire Night last. It took place immediately after the Community Futures Open Day and proved to be a perfect conclusion to a perfect day and weekend. The previous day saw a very successful fundraiser for the Straide Gathering Weekend [August 1st – 4th] take place by way of a sponsored cycle on the Western Greenway. Ss Peter & Paul National School ended the school year with a Mass of Thanksgiving on June 20th. It was a particularly moving occasion for the students in Sixth Class as well as for their parents and teachers.
We wish Bryan, Cormac, Dylan, Jamie, Niamh, Rebecca and Tahnee the very best of luck as they begin their second level education in late August.

A Greenway Cycling Challenge was held on Saturday, June 23rd last as part of a fund raising event for the Straide Gathering Weekend which will take place on the August bank holiday weekend next.
The sponsored cycle took the Greenway route from Newport to Mulranny on an overcast and windy day. However, the weather conditions did not dampen the spirits or enthusiasm of the large turnout of cyclists on the day.
