Please donate to our Church Conservation Project.

We urgently need funds to complete our Church Conservation Project. The project aims to restore the Church to its original condition, as when completed in 1916. Replacement of lead under the roof barges, repointing of external stonework as well as dealing with an extensive outbreak of dry rot have necessitated significant repair / conservation work to be undertaken. Mayo Person of the Year 2018, Sr. Maureen Lally was present in Straide on March 4th last to officially launch the Church Fundraising Drive. €20,000 in prizes are on offer, with the top prize being a Dacia Sandero 1 litre petrol 5 door hatchback. “Silent Moves” – October 21 2017

Well done to Straide Community Development Group (SCDG) for organising a showing of the wonderful film ‘Silent Moves’ at Straide Davitt Community Hall on Sat, 21st October last. ‘Silent Moves’ is a film by Aideen Barry, Western Care’s Ridgepool Training Centre and Scannán Technologies.   The film uses stylised mime, music and movement to tell a humorous triangle-love-story. War Dead Memorial Unveiling

Former Taoiseach, Enda Kenny T..D., was present in Straide on June 25th last to unveil the community’s War Dead. A large number of people were present to witness the historic event take place, with many having travelled long distances. Well done to the organising committee who put a huge amount of work into organising the day. Refreshments were provided afterwards in the Davitt Hall where there was also an excellent display of World I and World II artefacts
