CCTV Policy Statement

CCTV Cameras – Due to an increase in break-ins and thefts from Churches and Parochial houses in recent months, parishes have been advised to increase vigilance in relation to all parish property. A significant number of Churches are robbed during daylight hours while they are open. This fact was borne out before Easter when an unsuccessful attempt was made to break into one of the Church candelabras. Some parishes have responded to this new scenario by reducing the length of time their Churches are open during the day. For many parishes this is a most regrettable (but often necessary) approach. Straide Parish Finance Council recently recommended that a CCTV monitoring system be installed – one which will give coverage of inside the Church, the Car Parks and Parochial House. This work was completed during the week and the system is now functioning. The purpose and operation of the CCTV system is outlined in the Policy Statement which can be found on the link below
