Davitt Museum Exhibition

As part of the month of November Remembrance of the Dead, Memorial Masses were held on the weekend of November15th and 16th. These Masses had a theme of remembrance of those from (or connected to) the parish who participated in, or who died in, all wars over the years. Medals of some of those who participated were on display in the church after Mass. Thanks to all who made the weekend so special. It is appropriate that we remember and honour all of our war dead and war participants – especiall as we remember the commencement of the First World War 100 years ago in 1914.
There were also some items from the Michael Davitt Museum on display at the back of the Church on the weekends of December 20th / 21st and 27th / 28th. Items on display included: a menu from the Michael Davitt Commemorative Dinner held in June 1946 and signed by the then Taoiseach Eamon de Valera, Maisie Kielty pictured with the grandson of Mahatma Gandi (the Indian Nationalist leader) & a Land League match box from 1882.
