Parish Pilgrimage to Lough Derg
A One Day Parish Pilgrimage to Lough Derg took place on Tuesday, August 26th last. 30 people from the parish and surrounding areas made the trip to the ancient island of pilgrimage. It was a most enjoyable day. Even the weather was kind to the pilgrims as it was the only fine sunny day in the entire week with wet and windy conditions on the days before and after the day of pilgrimage. Judging from the positive response from the pilgrims there will definitely be a return pilrimage next year.
Church & School Social Function August 3rd
A very pleasant parish and school function took place on August 3rd in Hotel Ballina. The parish commemorated the 100th anniversary of the laying of the Church foundation stone and the school commenorated the 50th anniversary of the opening of the present school building. Past pupils and past members of staff were welcomed back. Sr. Nora Cogger launched a parish magazine “Moments in Time” which reflected on the past 100 years of both Church and School. All in all, a very enjoyable time was had by all.
