Funeral Readings
Funeral Mass usually has:
- A First Reading from the Old Testament
- A Responsorial Psalm
- A Second Reading from the New Testament
- An Alleluia Verse and a Gospel Reading
Appropriate secular readings may also be read but these must not substitute for the scripture readings.
It is usual (but not mandatory) for the Responsorial Psalm and the Alleluia Verse to be sung. The following are a list of sample Readings and Prayers of the Faithful that may be used for Funeral Masses.
