On August 7th last, Mass was celebrated in the Old Penal Church (Davitt Museum) for the first time in 100 years. It was an historic and very memorable day. Three of Michael Davitt’s grandchildren were in attendance. Fr. Tom Davitt concelebrated the Mass in the former Church where his grandfather was baptised 170 years ago. Afterwards, a wreath was laid at the grave of Michael Davitt as wewll as at the grave of Anne Deane (President of the Ladies Landleague).
