St. Brigid’s Day, February 1st marked the start of Celtic spring.

The ancient Celtic festival of Imbolc, on February 1st, celebrates the arrival of longer, warmer days and the early signs of spring. It is one of the four major “fire” festivals referred to in Irish mythology.
